Name: Shadow Wolf / Stephen Wolfberg
Campaign Name: ARCLight
Campaign Type: Superheroic
Campaign Setting: High atop the tallest building in the city, the NationsBank Tower, the armored supervillain Scourge has just broadcast his ultimatum to the Mayor. Suddenly (dum-dum-dum!), the members of the local superhero group ARCLight appear. The dark shadows near a wall converge and coalesce into the shape of Shadow Wolf, ready to do battle. Silverblade swings up from below, landing on his feet near Scourge. Valkyrie smashes through a rooftop access door to confront Scourge. Flashback takes cover behind the ventilation shaft and readies himself for an energy blast. Shard takes flight, shrinking down to the size of a dime. It's just another day for our heroes.
The campaign began in 1985. The original superhero group, the first ever in our campaign world, was Heroes, Inc. and consisted of a cyborg (Defensor), an armored space marine (Thud), a martial artist (Black Panther), and a fashionable and dexterous lady (Stiletto). Of this group, only Defensor and Thud are still around, the survivors of an ultimate battle of good vs. evil that occurred in another universe. Afterwards, there were few super-powered beings of any sort in the world for several years.
The current campaign began in 1989. A number of people who had been born during the period of atomic testing in the western United States during the 1950's were examined by the Advanced Research Consortium. The doctors of ARC discovered that they possessed certain mutations which could be enhanced to provide the subjects with super-powers. This study was done at ARC-Emory University by Dr. Richard Thornton and Dr. Mordecai Scourge. The original members of ARCLight, as the group called themselves were the Electric Knight, BlueFlame, Shadow Wolf, and Silverblade. It was during this study that Dr. Scourge suffered an accident that left him dependent on the armored suit that he wears today.
Granted a charter and police powers from the city of Atlanta in 1994, it is ARCLight's duty to put down the criminal element whenever it rears its ugly head. More recently, the group became affiliated with the United Nations Investigation of Super Human Abilities (UNISHA), and was housed in the UNISHA headquarters, located in downtown Atlanta, in Hero Park, just across the street from the World Congress Center.
Background/History: In the late 1950s, during the time the US government was heavily engaged in nuclear bomb testing, Stephen was exposed to atomic radiation while in his mother's womb. His powers didn't manifest until 1989 when he became part of the Advanced Research Consortium (ARC) project. After his powers manifested he moved to Atlanta, Georgia and is a founding member of ARCLight
Personality/Motivation: During the Cold War, Stephen worked as an intelligence gatherer in Europe. He became a specialist in infiltration. After leaving the service and gaining his powers he began fighting crime in Atlanta as a member of ARCLight. His specialty is sneaking up on an opponent while invisible and striking quickly.
Powers/Tactics: Shadow Wolf can at will, and with almost no effort, turn desolid, invisible, teleport to just about anywhere he can see, and use his cloak to project a six foot diameter force wall to shield himself and others. These powers along with his martial arts and other skills make him a formidable and frustrating opponent.
Appearance: Stephen is an average looking man of average height and weight. His costume is mostly black with red highlights. A cape completes the ensemble.
Notes: My first Champions character. Was a fun campaign and it went from October, 1989 until sometime in the year 2000.
Stories: The Early Days, Convergence, Divergence, A Future - Far, Far Away.
