Bread Stuffing
Ingredients
1 1/2 cups chopped onions
1 1/2 cups chopped celery
1 tsp salt
1 tsp poultry seasoning
1 tsp rubbed sage
Dash of pepper
1/2 to 1 cup chicken broth
8 cups shredded and dried loaf bread
Directions
In toaster, lightly-mediumly toast slices of bread. Shred toasted bread into small
pieces. Dry shredded pieces in microwave on high setting. When doing this the bread
should be near-hot but not overly so. The heat will cause the moisture in the
bread to evaporate. While doing this, sautee chopped onions and celery. Add salt,
poultry seasoning, sage and pepper. Combine sautee with chicken broth. Mix in
bread shreddings. Cover mixture and place in 350 degree oven until stuffing
reaches 160 degrees. Makes enough for 12 lb. turkey. We recommend making 1 1/2
times the recipe.
